About TakeOath

TakeOath is a free, independent resource that helps people in Virginia decide whether to join the Virginia Army National Guard.

Why we exist

Deciding whether to join is a big choice, and the official information is spread across many government sites and written in dense language. TakeOath gathers it into plain, sourced answers and free prep tools, so you can see what joining really involves and whether it is right for you. For green card holders, honorable service is also a fee-waived path to U.S. citizenship, which we cover as a featured track.

Independent and free

TakeOath is run independently. It is free to use, and it is not a recruiter and not a government service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for the U.S. government, the U.S. Army, or the National Guard, and we do not use their names, seals, or imagery.

Information, not advice

Everything here is general information and estimates to help you prepare. It is not legal, immigration, or medical advice. For your own situation, confirm details with a recruiter and, when you need it, a licensed attorney. See our disclaimer.

How we make our guides

Our guides are built from official U.S. government and military sources and checked before publishing. We explain the whole process, including where the facts come from and how to report an error, on how we make these guides.

TakeOath is an independent service. We are not part of the U.S. government, the Department of Defense, or the National Guard, and we do not speak for them. What you read here is general information, not legal or immigration advice. For your own case, talk to a recruiter and, when you need it, a licensed attorney.
